Making their presence known at all levels, Oxford’s competitive cheer program continues to improve with each competition. This past week, the varsity ladies picked up first place and fourth place finishes.
At the Battle at the Bay Invite on Jan. 12, the Wildcats picked up fourth place. The competition ended with a season-high cumulative score of 730.22. Round one gave the ladies a season-high 228.30 and the second round set another season record with 216.92.
The first two rounds put the Wildcats in the lead, but some mistakes in the third round dropped them to fourth place to finish the competition.
Earlier in the week at the first of the season’s two OAA White competitions on Jan. 10, the ladies picked up their first win of the season. In the first round, the team landed it’s, at the time, highest score of the season with 226.10. The second round also had a then-season-best with 212.08. Both rounds topped the leader boards at the competition.
The Wildcats secured first place with a third round score of 277.6. Going forward, the team will keep working on that third round group routine.
“We continue to improve our scores each week,” Head Coach Alanna Weber said. “Our main focus is round three. We have not had a perfect round three yet and that is really holding us back.”
Oxford’s cheerleaders will be back at in on Jan. 19 when they travel to the Knights Invite.
