After graduating Clarkston High School in 2006, Janelle Edmunds went to study fashion design at the International Academy of Design and Technology.
Now, getting ready to graduate in December, she is hoping to step out into the world of fashion as perhaps a buyer and maybe do some ‘trend forecasting.?
‘I always liked making things my own,? she said. ‘Even if I bought something, I knew what I was looking for before I went out. If I couldn’t find it I would buy something that looked like it, and then change it to put my own spin on it.?
Edmunds recently did a fashion shoot with Mark Kelly of MPK Photo to help expand her portfolio. She said the designs they photographed were from the ‘Imagine Fashion show? her school puts on every year.
‘I went with a more classic style theme and took inspiration from the 1920’s and 1940’s and applied it with a more current edgy look,? Edmunds said. ‘I like the classic things and being able to bring them back today.?
Kelly said it had been a ‘handful of years,? since he did a fashion shoot, but thought he could do a pretty good job.
‘Instead of having her brother shoot the photos, I thought if I was able to shoot them at a level of professionalism for her, it would help her out quite a bit,? Kelly said. ‘It was a fun project for me and I think she ended up with some good photos.?
