Credit union eyes M-15 property

Brandon Twp.- The real estate market may not be booming right now, but at least one business is still looking to buy property.
Genisys Credit Union, formerly T & C Federal Credit Union is considering the purchase of a vacant piece of property on M-15, south of Brandon High School. Also being considered are at least two other unnamed parcels in the area.
‘We have not committed to anything, no deals are finalized,? said Lon Bone, vice-president of public relations and community involvement for Genisys. ‘We are interested in property along M-15. We’re in a strip mall right now and want to offer drive-thru service to our members and where we’re at, we’re not able to do that. We’re looking toward the future.?
Genisys Credit Union is located locally at 250 N. Ortonville Road, Ste. B, in the plaza with Bueche’s Food World. Although Bone said the credit union hopes to buy property by the first part of next year, there are no plans to end their lease, which has two more years on it.
Genisys Credit Union has about 120,000 members and 23 locations? 20 in southeast Michigan, one location in Philadelphia and two more in Minneapolis.
The township planning commission approved by 7-0 vote in June 2007 a preliminary general site plan for the property currently owned by area developer Mike Riddle. The site plan features about 122,000 square-feet of retail space between eight separate buildings.
