Danny Lee Bailey, a resident of Goodrich, passed at away at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit on April 13 from heart failure.
Born in 1950 in Goodrich, Danny was the youngest son of nine children to Herbert Leonard Bailey and Pauline Alta Earp. He was named after his uncle who died as a child in 1911.
Danny served in the U.S. Army, was a General Motors assembly line worker and later a UAW shop steward. He was an avid and accomplished golfer known for his power driving. He competed in many tournaments in Michigan and throughout the country. He was at one time rated as a scratch golfer. In addition to playing recreationally, Danny also worked at several area courses.
Known as a good fisherman and an excellent chef, Danny enjoyed cooking his catches and sharing with friends and neighbors. He was a generous host. Danny could strike up conversation with anyone and make them feel at home.
Danny will be lovingly missed. He was predeceased by his parents and four siblings: Judith, Ronald, Sonia, and Candy. He is survived by one brother, Gary, three sisters: Joan, Linda and Pamela, two daughters, Heather and Michele, and three grandchildren: Olivia, Ella, and Kenzo.
Danny will also be remembered by his longtime friend Diane, her son David, and her grandson Bryce. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 22 at Lynch & Sons in Oxford. Memorial visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Memorial service begins at 4 p.m.
