Davison man arraigned after local purse snatching

A 33-year-old Davison man has been arraigned on a felony charge after stealing a woman’s purse at a local establishment.
Dennis Wayne Ball was arraigned Dec. 17 at 52-2 District Court on the charge of larceny in a building.
According to police reports, Brandon deputies were dispatched to Bullfrogs, 2225 Ortonville Road, after employees detained Ball, who they observed on a security video taking the purse of a female patron. Ball told police he’d had three drinks and didn’t know where the purse was. He was informed that he was caught on video, but he continued to deny he had taken the purse, although the video clearly showed him walking to the back of the chair, take the purse, conceal it and walk to the restroom. The purse was found in the restroom, behind a stall.
Deputies found $56 on Ball, most of it in his front pocket. He admitted taking the purse and the money was returned to the woman.
Ball was scheduled for a preliminary exam Dec. 20 in front of 52-2 District Court Judge Dana Fortinberry.
