Donald Graves, 100

Donald George Graves, born on Feb. 27, 1924, in Lake Orion, passed away on Aug. 2, 2024. He was 100 years old. Donald was the beloved husband of the late Bette Lucille (nee Rossman) Graves; he was preceded in death by his parents Floyd Oliver and Mabel Lendra (Nee Hauxwell) Graves; brothers Walter Graves, Delbert (Stub) Graves; sister Helen Rossman; grandchild Helga Moroski; and great-great-grandchild Madisyn Baldwin. Donald was the beloved father of three children; Donald Michael and Susan Holly (nee Thatcher) Graves, MaryLou Vanessa and Bill Moroski, Kimberly Renae and Walter Terry; seven grandchildren Jennifer and Wes Mosqueda, Yetta and Rob Force, Rebecca and Tim Marion, Carrie and Terry Scott, Mathew Terry, Johnathon and Kathryn Terry; 12 great-grandchildren Krystyna Baldwin, Kaleb Beaune, Alex Mosqueda, Aiden Mosqueda, Addison Marion, Logan and Brooke Scott, Wyatt Scott, Emma Scott, Aydan Scott, Ella Force, Rossman Terry, Jacob Terry; great-great-grandchildren Payton Baldwin and Brinley Baldwin. Donald retired from the Oakland County Road Commission in 1984 after 20 years. He was an Army Veteran of WWII discharged as a sergeant. Donald and his wife Bette raised their family in Oxford where he was a member of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Department. He owned and operated the Oxford Food Locker, and his family ran Don’s Deer Processing for 31 years. Donald was an avid golfer, he golfed on two leagues at Oxford Hills Golf Course, Monday Seniors League and Wednesday Men’s League with his son. He was a member of the Oxford American Legion Post 108. He liked to go every Friday night for their Fish Fry. Our dad was always the port in all of our storms. He was always there when we needed a shoulder to cry on, or when one of the kids needed picked up or watched. Dad, you will be deeply missed. We are glad you caught your wagon train to heaven! We will miss you. Visitation took place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m. A luncheon followed at the Oxford American Legion.
