Girls? volleyball
Lady Dragons took six wins in the Goodrich Tournament, Sept. 26, before North Branch had the final say. Lake Orion lost to that team, 25-15 and 25-12.
The girls came away with three wins against Farmington, Oct. 1. Farmington took two. Scores were 25-18, LO; 25-23, F; 25-19, F; 25-21, LO; and 15-13, LO.

Lake Orion won over Stoney Creek, 204-176 at Twin Lakes (par 36), Sept. 29.

Girls? cross country
The girls took eighth of eight teams at OAA’s second jamboree, held at Stoney Creek Metro Park, Sept. 30.
Lady Dragons earned fourth place at the Waterford Invitational, Oct. 2, with 72 points. Birmingham Seaholm won with 44.

Girls? swimming
Lady Dragons lost to Birmingham Seaholm, 138-48, Sept. 29.

Boys? cross country
The boys took second of nine teams at OAA’s second jamboree, held at Stoney Creek Metro Park, Sept. 30.
Dragons earned second place at the Waterford Invitational, Oct. 2, with 46 points. Waterford Mott won with 30.

Boys? tennis
Dragons earned the fourth place spot out of eight teams in the OAA White Tournament, Oct. 1, with 36 points. Winner Troy Athens had 53.

Boys? soccer
Lake Orion, now 9-1-2 this season, beat Auburn Hills Avondale, 6-1, in a home game, Sept. 29. The boys lost to Troy, 3-1, Oct. 1.

Girls? volleyball
Lady Dragons spiked and bumped their way to the final round Oxford’s Tournament, but lost to Pontiac Notre Dame Prep. Scores for that round were 25-15 Pontiac, 25-23 Lake Orion and 15-13 Pontiac.

Girls? cross country
Lady Dragons took fourth at the Waterford Invitational, Oct. 3, with 72 points. Birmingham Seahold took first with 44.

Boys? cross country
Dragons took second at the Waterford Invitational with 46 points. Waterford Mott took first with 30.

Boys? tennis
In regional competition, the boys placed sixth out of 10 teams with eight points. Birmingham Brother Rice took first with 28.

Boys? soccer
Saturday, Oct. 3, boys lost to Troy, 3-1.
Dragons beat Stoney Creek, 3-2, Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Oct. 10, the boys won against Bloomfield Hills Lahser, 3-0.
They’re now 11-2-2.

Baseball
A 6-0 loss to Oakland Activities Association rival Rochester Adams, put the Dragon baseball team at 9-3 on the season.
The team took two wins over L’Anse Creuse North, 8-7, and Farmington, 11-4, April 17.
The day before, Dragons took an 11-8 loss against Avondale, and April 14, Lake Orion went to a 5-2 win over Clarkston.

Softball
Lady Dragon’s softball team went 1-1 in two games against West Bloomfield, Wednesday, April 14. The girls won the first game of the afternoon, 1-1. Junior Sandra Rippon pitched a no-hitter and senior Tessa Tomlin hit two.
The second game went to nine innings, with West Bloomfield coming out on top, 4-2. Freshman pitcher Alicia Gronowski started, with Rippon coming in on relief. The girls took the loss on Bloomfield’s unearned run in the ninth.
Lady Dragons took on Waterford Mott, April 16, and won both games, 5-3. In the first game of the afternoon, Rippon led the team to a comeback win after being down 2-3. Sophomore Kaitlin Kogut took the mound in the second game.

Girls’ lacrosse
On Friday night, the Lake Orion HS Girls Lacrosse teams hosted Grosse Point North.
Varsity girls lost, 14-7, and are now 1-2-1. Marisa Secontine and Ronnie Booth scored two goals each. Paige Hammerl, Sarah Cech and Carly Brooks each scored once, while Megan Nash, Sam Noe and Jessica Smude added assists. Kristen Dolecki saved 6 of 10 shots and Lindsay Butterfield stopped 6 of 16 shots on goal.
Miranda Lieblein, Emily Hendrix and Mallory DeMott scored 2 goals each, leading the JV to an exciting 6-5 victory. Goalie Beth Giguere saved 5 Grosse Point shots. DeMott and KP Gramme also had assists. The strong Dragon defense was lead by Julianne Agresta, Megan Kelley and Madison Barry. The JV lacrosse team is now 2-2.

Boys’ track
The Lake Orion High School track and field team, both boys and girls, trampled over the Clarskton Wolves last week.
The boys finshed with a score of 94-34 in the meet, which was held in Dragon Country April 14, taking first place in 14 of 16 events, second in five events and third in six events.
Lady Dragons ran off with a score of 87-41, finishing first in 15 of 16 events, second in12 events and third in another dozen events.
The teams were set to face off against Troy on Tuesday.

Softball
The girls? varsity softball team took two losses in their double-header against North Farmington, Wednesday, April 21. Sandra Rippon took the mound in the night’s first game; the team’s top batters were Tessa Tomlin and Jessica Bays. The game’s final score was 7-4.
In the second game, Kaitlin Kogut took the mound with Alicia Gronowski in on relief. Tomlin and Bays again led the team in batting alongside Gronowski. Final score was 13-3.
Friday, April 23, the girls left with a win against Kettering. Rippon was back on the mound, with strong hitting coming from Julia Basso, Paige Hamay, Danielle Guldi and Bre Schwartcz.
The girls are now 6-3 on the season

Track and field
The Dragon track team chalked up another win, April 20, when they beat the Troy Colts, 84-44. The boys crossed the finish line first place in 11 of 16 events. They took second and third place in eight events each.
Lady Dragons lost to the Colts, 70-58.The girls took first in eight events, second in five events and third in five events.

Baseball
The varsity baseball team split wins and losses, last week.
The boys fell to Rochester Adams, 6-0, Monday, April 19, but took a win against Troy Athens, Wednesday, April 21, 4-3.
Now halfway through the season, the team’s record is a winning 10-3.

Girls’ lacrosse
The Lady Dragons traveled to Stoney Creek on Friday, April 30 to battle Rochester United.The girls came away with a 12-9 victory. The offense was lead by senior Jodie Parker, who scored four goals, while captain Sarah Cech scored three times. Paige Hammerl had two goals. Corey Tremblay, Ronnie Booth and Jessica Smude scored once each. Senior goalie Lindsay Butterfield stopped eight Rochester United shots.
The team hosted the Swartz Creek HS Dragons May 3 and came away with a 13-4 victory. Senior goalie Kristen Dolecki was outstanding, saving eight shots on goal. The offense was lead by Booth, Smude and Parker who each scored three goals. Tremblay continued her recent scoring binge with two more goals. Carly Brooks, Marisa Secontine and Nicole Blovet added scores for the Lady Dragons.
Wednesday, May 5, the Lady Dragons hosted North Farmington and got another OAA victory, 10-5. They are now 5-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in OAA games. Parker lead the way with five goals and senior goalie Butterfield saved nine shots on goal. Becky Seeds, Smude, Cech, Brooks and Secontine had one goal each.

Softball
Lady Dragons played away, May 5, at Athens High School for two games. During the first game, Sandra Rippon pitched for LO, bringing them a 11-0 win after five innings. Top batters were all from the Dragons.Megan Dyer pitched for the second game, bringing LO another stunning 10-0 win in five innings.
Sunday, May 9, Lady Dragons played at Piper for a five-game tournament.
The ladies first played against Lakeland, but were not able to pull through in the eighth inning when Lakeland pulled ahead by one. The final score was 3-2, Lakeland.
Next the ladies went up against Royal Oak, winning 1-0 in seven innings, with Dyer on the mound.
Lake Orion continued its winning streak against Eisenhower, ending with a 6-1 score. Both Dyer and Rippon pitched for LO, giving Lake Orion a mid-tournament record of 2-1.
The ladies? fourth game against Howell brought them a loss. Howell scored the single point in the sixth inning, stealing the win with a score of 1-0. Rippon led the team on the mound.
In the final game Sunday, they faced Regina and took home the win, 8-0. Dyer served as pitcher.

Girls? lacrosse
Wednesday, May 19, the varsity girls? lacrosse team traveled to University Liggett in Grosse Poiinte Woods and captured a 12-10 victory to improve their overall record to 8-6-2.
Senior Jodie Parker lead the scoring with four goals and an assist.
Ronnie Booth, Paige Hammerl and Carly Brooks each scored twice.
Megan Nash and Kaileen Tweedie added goals, while Hammerl had one assist.
Lindsay Butterfield saved 10 Knights? shots on goal and Corey Tremblay had five steals for the Lady Dragons.

Boys? golf
Tuesday, May 18, Clarkston’s boys? golf team squeaked by the Dragons with a 167-169 win. For Lake Orion, Alex Waelchli hit a 39, Paul Couretas and Corbin Rainey were each at 43 and Tyler Draggoo hit a 44.
The team’s overall record is 1-4.

Softball
The Lady Dragons softball team took a 5-2 win over Oxford in a home game, Friday, May 21. Saturday, the girls won one and lost two during a tournament at Troy Athens.

Girls? soccer
Tuesday, May 18, Lady Dragons soccer team hosted Berkley and took a 2-0 win. Neither team scored in the first half, and Lake Orion’s Maddie Hutchinson and Julianne Boyle each scored one in the second. Goaltenders Alyssa Mason and Hailey Redd shared the net.
May 20, the girls tied with Clarkston, 1-1. May 22, Lady Dragons enjoyed another home-turf win when they hosted Macomb Lutheran North. Final score was 7-0.
Liane Wagner had two goals and two assists, Shannon Inglis had a goal and one assist and Taylor Temonti added two goals.
The team is now 12-3-2 overall.

Cross country
Sept. 14, at the Oakland Activities Association first Red Jamboree, the boys’ cross country team ran to a first place finish with 43. Birmingham Seaholm came in second with 50, and Clarkston took third with 78.
Individually, LO’s T.J. Carey finished with a first place time of 16:24.3, Jake Lauka came in fourth with 16.55 and Brad Cross was seventh with 17:07.
The lady runners came in sixth as a team with 125.
Sept. 18, at the Holly-Nike Invitational, the boys took fourth place with 130. First place was Novi Detroit Catholic Central (53), second was Toledo St. Francis DeSales (81) and third was Grand Blanc.
Individually, Carey took third place with a time of 16:36.
At the invitational, the LO girls’ team came in seventh with 165.

Girls’ swimming
In the pool Sept. 16, the girls’ swim team took on Birmingham Groves, but lost 133-52.
In the 200 freestyle, Annie Jongekrig took first with a time of 2:03.39; in 200 IM, Courtney McClear took first with 2:15.94; and in diving, Katie Corcoran was in first with 175.85 points.

Volleyball
On the court, Lady Spikers swept Troy Athens in all three matches, 25-23, 25-22 and 25-18.

Boys’ soccer
Sept.16, boys’ soccer lost to Troy, 4-1. During the home game, Troy took the lead in the first have and never gave it up. Lake Orion is now 3-3-1, overall, on the season.

Boys’ tennis
Under the September sun, the boys’ tennis team took on Rochester and ultimately lost, 6-2, Sept. 14. Lake Orion’s Tyler Lendregtske and Brenden MacDonald defeated both their opponents in singles play. Dragons are now 2-3.

Cross country
The Dragons continued showing their depth, from grade level to grade level, said Coach Stan Ford, after the team won the Old Skool Classic, Saturday, Sept. 25.
This meet is scored differently then a normal meet: Lake Orion freshman Ted Ryquist, sophomore T.J. Carey, junior Ryan Singles and senior Jake Lauka were the Dragons? top finishers in their respective races, with their places adding up to 21 points — good enough to win the Old Skool Classic for the fourth year in a row.

Volleyball
Tuesday, Sept. 21, the Lady Dragons volleyball team beat out Bloomfield Hills Lahser, 25-22, 25-18 and 25-20 on home turf. On their way to the win, Maddie Hutchison had 20 digs, Alyssa Wesley had 18 assists, Liz Kalugar had five aces and Shannon Murdock had 15 kills.
Saturday, Sept. 25, Lady Dragons won the Madonna University tourney. The stole the title from Milford in the final round, 25-23 and 25-22. Hutchison offered up 43 digs and 23 aces, Wesley had 111 assists and Murdock had 45 kills for Lake Orion. The team’s record is now 19-6-2.

Girls? golf
The girls? golf team came in 11th out of 12 teams, Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Oakland County Division I golf tournament. Stoney Creek took first with 317 strokes at the tourney, held at Pontiac Country Club, par 72. Birmingham Marian had 341, putting them in second, and Troy had 346, putting them in third. Lake Orion had 422.

Girls? swimming
Thursday, Sept. 23, Birmingham Seaholm outpaced Lady Dragon swimmers, 146-40. Annie Jongekrijg was LO’s leading lady when she took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:22.61 and in the 100 backstroke with 1:02.26.

Cross country
The boys? cross country team raced to first place at the 2nd OAA’Cross Country Jamboree, held Tuesday, Sept. 28 at’Stoney Creek Metro Park.?’LO won by a mere four points over Seaholm and the rest of the league, with 45 points.? T. J. Carey repeated’as the individual winner leading the Dragons, along with Jake Lauka’s fifth place finish.? This proved to be the main difference, as the scoring was extremely tight, said Coach Stan Ford.
In the jamboree, Lady Dragons placed fourth. They had a score of 96.5. Troy came in first with 52, Rochester was in second with 77, and Rochester Adams took third with 81. 4.

Boys? soccer
On the home field, Dragon kickers took on Saint John’s Jesuit Academy, from Toledo, OH, and lost, 1-0, Tuesday, Sept. 28. Ian Chevrier minded the net for Lake Orion. Thursday, Sept. 30, the boys went head-to-head with Flushing, the game ending in a 2-2 tie. Jesus Dinez scored both goals for LO. The team is now 5-5-2.

Boys? tennis
Thursday, Sept. 30, at the OAA White tournament, the Lake Orion boys ended up in sixth place out of seven teams with 22 points. Stoney Creek came in first with 54, Lahser took second with 39 and Clarkston had third with 36.

Volleyball
Tuesday, Sept. 28, Lake Orion nearly swept Rochester 25-13, 22-25, 25-7, and 25-14. Thursday, Sept. 30, they tied with Birmingham Seaholm, each winning two matches.

Girls? golf
Wednesday, Sept. 29, Lake Orion fell to Stoney Creek, 156-206 at Boulder Bluff, a par 36 course. Stacy Lecznar hit a 44, Maddy McClean swung 49, Riley Dunn hit 55 and Abby Lennox swung 58.
