E.coli count unsatisfactory at Mill excavation

Ortonville- Ground water leaking into the excavation site for the Old Mill shed is polluted, with an E.coli count of 980 CFU when tested July 10. E.coli counts above 300 CFU are considered unsatisfactory.
Village Manager Ed Coy suspects the water is from the Old Mill septic system. The system has not failed, he says, rather, he believes the water is flowing through the septic field. He is working with Leanne Panduren of Rowe Engineering in an effort to find a solution.
Footings and walls for the shed have been poured and walls, roof and floors are scheduled to be completed this week.
