Emily Jane Ratkowiak, of Posen and formerly of Oxford, entered eternal peace on March 6, 2019. She was 89

She was born on May 5, 1929 to the late Stanley and Rose Wozniak in Posen. Emily was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s Church in Lake Orion and St. Casimir Catholic Church in Posen, and the Rosary Society of Posen.

Emily was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it be playing cards, bingo or taking her chances on the “Vibrant 7’s”. She had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile that lit up a room. She had a very strong love for her Lord Jesus Christ and she will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and extended family.

Emily is survived by her children Janice (Larry) Hammonds, Margaret (Bruce) Whitaker, Sharon (Don) Lusk, Kathleen (Larry) Collier, Anthony (Marilyn) Ratkowiak, Steven (Theresa) Ratkowiak, and Karen (John) Yarnall, grandchildren, Jason (Adriana) Hammonds, Keri Bell, Sean Allen, Chad Allen, Bruce Jr. Whitaker, Linda (Scott) Magyar, Derrick (Shelly)Whitaker, Matthew Mihacsi, John Lusk, Jennifer (Ernie) Moreno, Jeanette Lusk(Bruce Fisher), Dion Collier (fiancée Heather Kane), Darren Collier, Emily, Abigail, Seth Ratkowiak, Steven (Elichia) Flores, Sarah (Juan) Sauceda, John Henry (Lari) Yarnall, and Jacqueline (Joe) Smokevitch, great-grandchildren, Micah, Rain, Sebastian, Payton, Samantha, Joseph, Cole, Jacob, Nicholle, Dylan, Joseph Lee, Alyssa, Michael, Justine, Juliana, Jeremy, Shayla, Ashlee, Madison, Austin, Aubrey, Oliver, Penny, Ella, Ezra, Xander, Selah, Elias, Nicholas, Allie, and Joey.Five siblings, Gertie Dembny, Theresa Purol, Stanley (Virginia) Wozniak, Blanche Meyers, Raymond (Laurie) Wozniak, brother in law John Misiak, and sister in law Wanda Mantyk.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, son Joseph Stanley, siblings and in-laws.

Emily has been taken for cremation from McWilliams Funeral Home.

From 10:30 a.m. until the start of the memorial service at 11 a.m. family will receive friends at the Oxford Free Methodist Church (790 S. Lapeer Rd.) on Saturday, April 13. Pastor Don Lusk will officiate.
