Last day for tickets is Friday!
Grab a friend and join the Oxford Women’s Club for their annual Fall Fashion Show, Wednesday, Nov. 2. The event is at Boulder Pointe Golf Club, starting at 5 p.m. Those attending can shop from local vendors until dinner at 7 p.m., followed by the fashion show.
Fashions are being provided by The Boulevard Boutique, Kim Rose Fashions and Mainstream Boutique. According to club member Nancy Wray, the night’s main entree is lasagna with a vegetarian pasta option available. “If you prefer the vegetarian option, please let your ticket seller know,” Wray said, adding, “If you wish to sit with a friend, purchase your tickets together as your ticket number determines the table where you will sit.”
Tickets are $45, will not be sold at the door and must be pre-purchased by this Friday (Oct. 21). Tickets can be purchased at Boulevard Boutique, 5 S. Washington St., or by calling Wray at 248-3289.
This is one of the club’s major funding raising efforts throughout the year. The Oxford Women’s Club is known for their generosity in awarding scholarships to Oxford students. “Since 2000, we have awarded over $180,000 in scholarships to 165 deserving students,” club president Nancy Martin said. She noted the club also turns 90 this November.
“We started on Nov. 4, 1932. One of the first things the club did was supply milk money for area kids.”
In November they sell Christmas wreaths and cedar roping as a fundraiser. In January they have another annual fundraiser, a wine tasting event which will be at Addison Oaks Park.
The Women’s Club meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. They usually meet in member homes. They have about 20 members currently, but they are always looking for new members. If any area women are interested they can call Martin at 248-672-9414. — Don Rush
