A 58-year-old Ortonville man died Wednesday after his motorcycle struck a car on M-15 in Brandon Township.
According to Oakland County Sheriff’s Office reports, Donald Ruks was traveling northbound on Ortonville Road south of Wolfe Road at about 3:05 p.m., Oct. 2 on a 1999 Honda Valkyrie motorcycle when a 21-year-old Ortonville woman driving a 2004 Volkswagen Golf turned left out of McDonald’s and directly into the path of the northbound motorcycle.
Ruks struck the vehicle and was transported from the scene by Brandon firefighters, but died from his injuries en route to Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc.
Ruks was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Volkswagen was uninjured.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
