Filing deadline July 22 for November ballot

The filing deadline to be placed on the November ballot as a candidate for local positions, including seats on the Ortonville Council and Brandon Board of Education is 4 p.m., this Tuesday, July 22.
The Ortonville Village Council has three trustee positions open, all 4-year terms, currently held by Tom Peters, Coleen Skornicka, and Liz Waters. Also available is the 2-year council president seat, currently held by Wayne Wills.
Candidates for council must be at least 18-years-old and residents of the Village of Ortonville and must file by 4 p.m., July 22, a peitition signed by at least six registered village voters, but no more than 12, at the Brandon Township Clerk’s Office, 395 Mill St. As of Thursday, Karen McArthur, township elections coordinator, said only one petition had been obtained from her office, and none had been filed.
The Brandon Board of Education has three seats available, all 4-year terms. Those seats are currently held by Greg Allar, Debbie Brady, and Diane Salter. As of Thursday, the county website showed only two candidates having filed to be placed on the November ballot? Robert Eisiminger and Diane Salter.
Candidates for the school board must be at least 18 and residents of the Brandon School District. Petitions must be filed by 4 p.m., July 22, at the Oakland County Clerk’s Office, 1200 N. Telegraph Road, Pontiac, or candidates can pay a $100 fee in lieu of gathering at least 40 petition signatures, or a maximum of 100 signatures of registered voters in the school district.
