A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for Oxford-Orion FISH’s new food pantry will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The new 5,000-square-foot pantry is located at 1060 S. Lapeer Rd., just south of Drahner Rd., in Oxford Township.
Due to the limited size of the new pantry’s lot, off-site parking for the event will be provided at the Oxford Free Methodist Church (north side), DK Donuts and Burgers, Pioneer Door, Celtic Cove Catholic Bookstore and The Salvation Army store.
Vehicles from the North Oakland Transportation Authority will provide rides to and from the church. Folks parking at the other four sites will have to walk.
The last day of operations for FISH’s current pantry, located at 487 First St. in Thomas, will be Oct. 10. Packing will be done the following day and moving on Oct. 12.
FISH’s new pantry will open Oct. 15.
Since 1973, FISH has been providing free food to local folks who need it.
