George Maguire, a lifelong resident of Oxford, passed away March 4, 2019. He was 72.
He was born in Flint on Dec. 14, 1946 to the late Brendon and Evelyn Maguire.
George loyally served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He retired from General Motors after almost 40 years of employment in the auto paint division.
George loved to travel in his RV with his wife Dawn across the country and to their place in Tawas.
He loved spending time with his three children and three granddaughters. George was loving, generous and kind. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He will be deeply missed by many.
George is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dawn Maguire; three daughters: Tina (Joe) Sosville, Lisa Maguire, and Heather (Eric) Barnette; three granddaughters: Evelyn, Abigail and Olivia Barnette; two sisters; Joanne (David) Sweeney and Suzie (Moke) Hodge; also many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held on March 12 at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors in Oxford,. Pastor Joe Caminiti officiated.
Interment was at Ridgelawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
Memorial donations to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the K-9 Stray Rescue League are appreciated.
