Girls ski team wins opener

After delaying the opening meet because of bad weather, the Oxford-Brandon girls ski team gave Grand Blanc a run for their money on Tuesday, January 18 at Mt. Holly.
The Oxford-Brandon girls team dominated the slalom and Giant Slalom beating Grand Blanc 20-60.
Oxford Junior Karen Offer took first place in the slalom with a 59:21 and the Giant Slalom at 60:14; followed by Oxford senior Grace Auchterlonie placing second in the slalom with a 63:99; and Brandon senior Lauren Bayliss placed third with 68:39. Oxford junior Miranda Christen placed fourth with 68:61 and Oxford senior Heather Tiffany placed sixth.
Offer also took first place in the Giant Slalom with a 60:14 while Auchterlonie took second with a 63:35. Bayliss placed third at 66:10, Christen took fourth with 66:74, and Tiffany took fifth with 69:52.
The boys team lost to Grand Blanc with a score of 44-30. Oxford senior Shawn Dean was the only team member to show in the slalom with a second place time of 62:02.
In the Giant Slalom, Brandon freshman Robert Krug took third with a 61:82, Dean placed fourth at 63:89, and Brandon junior Aaron VanDis placed sixth with a 64:52.
