The Oxford Wildcats girls’ golf team finished fifth out of the six OAA White schools in the Oakland Country Tournament at The Links at Crystal Lake on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
Led by junior Eryn Petriko’s 99, the Wildcats had four golfers within 10 shots of each other.
“Eryn has worked hard on improving her game,” head coach Gretchen Gabler said.
“Her 99 was a personal-best. Junior team captain Janelle Grech shot 100, fellow junior Kate Dietiker carded a 102 and sophomore Lilly Yankee finished the scoring with a 109. We will be working hard in practice to improve skills and lower scores.”
Looking to show continued progress, Oxford traveled to Sanctuary Lake Golf Course to face Troy Athens on Wednesday, Sept. 4. Falling 204-183, senior Sam Malinich’s 48 led the Wildcats.
Unfortunately for Oxford, the struggles continued Monday, Sept. 16 at Twin Lakes Golf & Banquet Club. While Grech had a strong day, the Rochester Adams Highlanders cruised past the Wildcats, 219-171.
The Wildcats will look to get back in the win column when they square off with Seaholm at Springdale Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 19.
