‘Good jobs with good benefits?

If everything goes according to plan, Lear Corp could start hiring to fill more than 100 jobs in Orion Township by mid June.
‘These are good jobs with good benefits,? said Lear Corporation tax manager Kirk Fisher, who on Monday addressed the Orion Township Board of Trustees.
According to Fisher, Integrated Manufacturing & Assembly is proposing to lease space from the vacant Ashley Capital building at 325 W. Silverbell Road, where it will produce automotive seat component sub-assemblies for the Chevy Aveo, Buick Verano and GM large trucks/SUV.
The Ashley Capital building is contained within an industrial development district created by the township to encourage business in May 2009.
The proposed project will create 118 new jobs?10 salaried and 108 hourly positions’in Orion Township.
In order to get up and running, Fisher said, the company will need to make minor building modifications, and also facilitate the purchase and installation of new machinery, equipment and IT equipment.
Estimated start-up costs hover just over $1 million, and the company is requesting a tax abatement on real and new personal property, with a combined value of $1,008,000.
The Orion Township Board of Trustees set a public hearing on the matter for 7 p.m., May 17 at township offices, 2525 Joslyn Road. For more information, call 248-391-0304 or visit www.oriontownship.org and watch The Lake Orion Review for updates.
