Guido’s Pizza is positive about the future

2020 is gone. And, Guido’s Premium Pizza is bullish in the future.
“The last 12 months were difficult,” owner Shawn McGuire said. “But pizza sales have remained strong and have even surged. We are super excited to have won Best Pizza for the 12th straight year and are very proud to call the Oxford/Lake Orion Community home for the last 28 years.”
One of the pizzeria’s biggest challenges was having enough staff to handle business during busy nights. “For a few months we had to close for lunch due to being short-staffed and there were many Friday and Saturday nights that we would run 45 minutes to one hour on pickups and on rare occasions two hours on delivery because we were so backed up and short handed,” he said.
Things are much better now, thank you. Shawn reported he has almost a full staff and business is getting back to normal.
“ And, we are still hiring,” he said.
Like with many businesses, COVID-19 has led to doing things differently. “Many changes were made to keep our employees safe and to safely service the customers including providing hand sanitizer, daily temperature and wellness checks for staff. We require the use of masks for our staff and customers and we also installed a plexiglass shield at the cash register. We also now offer a couple new service options like contactless delivery and curbside pickup. A customer can now prepay for a delivery with instructions on where to leave the food and we will deliver that order with ‘no contact.’ It’s worked out very well for those customers who want to use this type of delivery service.”
For their new curbside pickup a customer parks in one of thier eight dedicated parking spaces. They then call to let statff know they have arrived. “We then run the food out to their vehicle. It’s definitely safer then having customers in our lobby. However, our lobby is now back open if a customer wishes to come inside to pickup their order. We are happy to report that we have not yet had a positive COVID staff member,” Shawn said.
Besides COVID-19, the last year was also difficult because of the reconstruction of M-24. “We are thankful the road construction project is over! We’re also looking forward to getting back to normal operations later this year,” he said.
He also thanked the community, “The support the community has shown us has truly been incredible.”
Moving forward, he said soon Guido’s will open their 13th Michigan location. In Oxford they are located at 1396 S. Lapeer Rd. To order a pizza call 248-969-2111 or visit them online, GuidosPizza.com

  1. It may be true for that location but definitely not that way for the one in Pontiac on Opdyke and Centerpoint Parkway. It definitely is not doing well and wasn’t before Covid either. Surprised it’s even still there/open.
