Independence Township Parks and Recreation hosted a Veterans Day luncheon Nov. 7 for local vets.
“It’s a day set aside to remember and honor veterans,” said Barney Schoenfeld, commander, American Legion Post 66. “Let us ever be mindful of the cost and sacrifice of our young men and women.”
Veterans gathered at Clintonwood Park’s Carriage House for lunch and music by Clarkston Melody Makers. American Legion Post 66 members provided “Honored American Veteran” medals to attendees, and the township provided copies of the book “Stories from a Soldier’s Heart.”
