Juanita Mona Davenport, of Richardson, Texas and formerly of Oxford and Lake Orion, in God’s perfect timing, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 9, 2017. She was 81.
Juanita was born to Henry “Hank” Neidrick and Mona (Putnam) Neidrick on May 30, 1936 in Pontiac.
As a young woman, Juanita was artistic, sang in the school choir, and enjoyed the outdoors.
Not long after graduating high school she married Don, the love of her life, and together they raised a family of five children.
For many years, she worked as an outreach coordinator for Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) where she played an integral role in writing policy and providing outreach services for her community.
Nita was an avid gardener well-known for having a yard that featured an abundance of beautiful blooms throughout the seasons.
She was a member of Sweet Adelines and loved crafting with her dear sister, Henrietta.
Her creativity and resourcefulness made for many memorable holiday and birthday celebrations for her children and grandchildren.
Juanita is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Donald Ray Davenport.
She is survived by their five children; Curtis (Elizabeth) Davenport, Lisa (Molly) Davenport, Mark (Darlene) Davenport, Jill (Tim) Davenport-Scott, and Wes (Victoria) Davenport; eight grandchildren; Michelle Davenport, Joshua Davenport, Nicholas Scott, Zachary Scott, Jack Scott, Katherine Scott, Kayla Scott, and Luke Scott; and her sister Henrietta (David) Grubb.
A Celebration Service of Nita’s life will be held in Michigan at a later date.
