The Lady Cats saw their season come to an end after a tough 45-37 loss to Stoney Creek in the district finals.
‘It was a very difficult loss for us but no one can take away our league championship or that we were undefeated in the league,? said Head Coach Steve Emert. ‘This was a great season for Oxford, great plays, great games (and) great contributions from all’teammates who care about each other.?
Senior Jessica Murphy led the team with 20 points, shooting 31 percent (5 of 16) from the field and 33 percent (3 of 9) from the three-point line.
Other contributors included Cherilyn Banas with eight points; Madilyn Morris and Skye Donaldson, each with three-pointers and Jaynee Butkiewicz with a free-throw.
‘These seniors: Nina (Walatkiewicz), Jaynee and the three captains Jessica, Cheril and Skye will be greatly missed.’Their leadership was outstanding,? Emert added. ‘We are looking forward to next year’s squad with great enthusiasm and excitement.??
