Lady cats lose two in a row

The Lady Cat cagers kicked their 2014-2015 season off with a rocky start after two losses last week.
The first was a 45-42 loss on the road Dec. 2, against Rochester Adams, a tough team they know all too well.
Oxford jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Highlanders roared back and never trailed,’to get the win.? Adams took a 7 point margin into the half, and was led in scoring by Amber Jamison with 18 points and Dazia Dinkins with 13 points.?
‘The Wildcats mounted a final charge in the 4th quarter, outscoring the Highlanders?16 – 8, but it proved to be too little too late.? In the loss, the Wildcats were lead by senior Jessica Murphy’with 22 points and 7 rebounds.? Other contributors for the Wildcats were’senior Skye Donaldson with 7 points, 4 rebounds; and sophomore Madelyn Morris with 6 points.
Then on Friday they traveled to Lakeland to take on the Eagles, where they fell to a 35-40 loss.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and led 18 ? 10 at the half, but could not match the intensity of Lakeland in the second half. Lakeland outscored the Wildcats 30 -17 in the final two periods of play. Lakeland was led by Amanda Lock with 11 points and Molly Stec with nine. In the loss, the Wildcats were led by Jessica Murphy with 17 points and eight rebounds. Skye Donaldson was second leading scorer for the Wildcats with eight points.
‘Both games were very difficult defeats for us.? Our biggest weakness that we have as a team is rebounding, offensively and defensively,? said Head Coach Steve Emert. ‘All the girls have the desire to take their play to the next level but many are still developing the competivnes it takes to get there.?? We will get there but it just takes a little time.??
The girls will next game will be Dec. 16 at home against Stoney Creek. Tipoff will be at 7 p.m.
