Leonard kids win ‘Battle of the Books?

A group of fourth-graders from Leonard Elementary won the annual ‘Battle of the Books? held last week at the Oxford High School Performing Arts Center.
Calling themselves ‘The Leonard Readers,? the team competed against 16 other fourth-grade teams from Oxford’s elementary schools. The Leonard Readers consisted of students Madison Houck, Samantha Corcoran, Alaina Rarick and Harmony Moser.
To prepare for the competition, all of the students read a selection of five books.
During the battle, the teams each answered 15 questions about the books.
Two other teams won new awards at the Battle of the Books. Reading Rock Starz from Oxford Elementary won best team name, while Knowledge Nerds, also from Oxford Elementary, won best costume.
