A homeowner on 690 Fernhurst contacted Oakland County Sheriffs after he found his home burglarized on July 7.
The homeowner suspected a tenant who rented the furnished basement from him. The tenant, Edmund Joseph Proulx, then resided in Dryden and was wanted by state police for felonies including First Degree Child Abuse and two traffic misdemeanor warrents from 52-3 District Court in Rochester Hills.
The case was assigned to the Orion Township Detectives who investigated the incident. Detectives Randolph and Miller followed up on the information provided by the original complainant and after conducting surveillance on the suspect in Lapeer County, made an arrest on July 12.
The suspect confessed to the home invasion and said he sold the AK-47 assault rifle he stole from the complainant. Flint police are now attempting to recover the weapon.

On July 13 the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office issued one count of home invasion in the first degree (a 20 year felony) and larceny of a firearm (a 5 year felony.)
The defendent was arraigned the same day in front of Judge Nancy Carniak and a bond was set at $75,000 cash with no ten percent. He was given an additional $75,000 bond on the child abuse charge. The next court date was July 23.
