A 39-year-old Brandon Township man has been arraigned on charges of home invasion and domestic violence.
David Earl Greer, Jr. was arraigned Aug. 25 by 52-2 District Court Judge Kelley Kostin on one count of home invasion first degree, a 20-year felony, and one count of domestic violence, a 93-day misdemeanor.
According to police reports, Greer and his ex-wife had recently had their divorce finalized and on Aug. 24, she was standing outside of her new residence in the 4200 block of Fir talking to a neighbor when Greer pulled in the driveway. She told police she went inside and tried to lock the door and he forced his way in. When she told him to leave, he grabbed her by the wrists and threw her on the floor and began to gather the flat screen television. She got up and he threw her down a second time. She yelled for someone to call the police and he threw the television down on the porch and left. A witness saw him force his way in, throw the woman down and subsequently throw the television. He called 9-1-1.
Greer told police his ex-wife had his property and he felt he was ‘invited? into the house since they were in a conversation outside before she went inside. He said he tried to get the television and ‘shrugged? her off. He was unsure if she fell and said he lost his balance and dropped the television.
