Marvin “Jay” Willobee, Jr., age 71 of Oxford, MI passed away on December 25, 2020, at Harper Hospital in Detroit after a four-month hospitalization.
He was born on March 24, 1949, to the late Marvin and Dorothy (Rossman) Willobee. He graduated from Oxford High School and served in the Navy for 11 years as an Electrician’s Mate on a nuclear submarine. He got a B.S. in Engineering from Oakland University and worked in the defense industry for Westinghouse. In later years, he also worked at Dixieland Flea Market and at Meijer.
A fierce competitor, he enjoyed playing chess, bridge, and many types of card games. He also liked solving brain teaser puzzles. He was loved by his family and will be missed as a fourth in family games of 500.
He is survived by his sister, Sheryl (Mark) Miller and brothers Robert Willobee, Ed (Sondra) Willobee, and Mark (Tinna) Willobee; by six nieces and nephews: Sylva (Doug Ballam) Miller; Matthew Miller; Laura (Ben) Johns; Barbara (Fia) Willobee; Bryn Willobee; Rachel Willobee; and by six great-nieces and nephews: Evan & Spencer Ballam, Emmett & Riley Johns, Emma Willobee, and Kevana Lehenke.
A memorial service will be at a later time.
