Matthew Douglas Allen, 28, of Romeo, grew up in Metamora, tragically died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024. He was born on March 10, 1996 in Flint to parents Paul and Lisa (Dodge) Allen. Matt graduated from Oxford High School, went on to college for a few years to eventually become an electrical journeyman. Matt married Natalie D. Mason on Oct. 3, 2021 in Goodrich. Matt enjoyed and was good at his job; he was a third-year electrical apprentice, IBEW, working for Shaw Electric Comp. He was proud to have been working on the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Matt was considered an expert on Finnish Mosin-Nagant Riffles, a huge passion of his. He was also a true outdoorsman, from camping to hiking or playing with his beloved dogs, Cherokee and Lotus. Those who knew Matt, would say he was a very well liked, generous, funny guy who had lots of friends. He was a proud husband and excited father of a one-year-old. Matt will be so missed. He is survived by his wife Natalie Allen, son Henry, parents Paul and Lisa Allen, father-in-law Rob Mason, siblings David (fiancé, Blake Davis) Allen, Rachel (Charles) Joseph, Paul Allen, Katie Allen, sister-in-law Adrienne “Izzy” Mason and nieces Penelope and Daphne. Matt was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Maria Mason. Matthew’s cremation will be entrusted with Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Matt’s family will hosted a light lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a celebration of life ceremony beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at The Dealership banquet venue, 22 N Washington St., in Oxford. The family continued to visit with friends and family until 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be offered in lieu of flowers to the family, Natalie, for her and Henry’s future.
