McLaren moves ahead

A unanimous vote gave McLaren Healthcare approval for their amended final Planned Unit Development site plan.
The plan rezoned and added into the PUD two existing parcels, expanded the proposed retail section to allow for Clarkston State Bank and also approved the revised PUD plan layout and architectural building design of the retail center as well as approved the revision of required traffic improvements noted with the recorded PUD agreement between phases of the development.
‘First of all this is a great expression of confidence in our economy to look ahead for McLaren who’s making this incredibly great investment in our community,? said Commissioner Larry Rosso. ‘We look forward to the Clarkston State Bank, which is philosophically a financial pillar in our community to be incorporated into this.?
Commissioner Joseph Lawrence was happy with the design of the project.
‘I am very pleased to see the petitioner has broken up the layout, so it does not look like a strip mall,? he said.
They also voted unanimous to approve the conceptual site plan review for the retail center on Phase 1B.
‘I’m just happy to see this moving forward, I’m really happy to see Clarkston State Bank is going over there and not isolated,? said Planning Commission Chairman Sam Moraco. ‘I think this is a big plus in terms of the medical campus.?
Kevin Thompkins, vice president of marketing for McLaren Health Care Corporation said McLaren was ‘pleased? with how the meeting went and ‘thankful? of the Planning Commission’s and Planner Dick Carlisle’s input throughout the project.
‘We’ve said many times that early on that both the planning commission and McLaren put a lot of work into working together and I think without a doubt it has continually made this a better project. We think it improves every time we meet with them, Thursday night was no exception,? said Thompkins. ‘We’re pleased with the approval both on conceptual site plan approval on the retail space and the approval on the amendment request.?
