Men of Oxford host Dunk Tank and other events to fight against breast cancer

Men of Oxford, a subsidiary of the Oakland County American Cancer Society (ACS) Men Wear Pink group, will host a number of events this summer and fall to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer. The group’s goal this year is $10,000.

First up is a Dunk Tank 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13 at Washington Square in downtown Oxford. Among those taking a turn in the drunk tank this year is Oxford DDA Director and Mrs. Michigan, Kelly Westbrook. Fun also includes a DJ, a visit from the Sick Pizza food truck and an ice cream cart. The group is seeking a $500 sponsor for this event. The group will fundraise at The Scarecrow Festival 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 in downtown Oxford. This year’s event kicks off with a 5K and 1 mile fun run. Following that guests will start the afternoon of activities with a chili cookoff, donuts and cider, Artisan Open Air Market, Kids zone (face painting, balloons, hair tinsel, bracelet making station and more). Ava Swiss performs in the park plus there will be character appearances, bucket drumming, downtown trick or treating, a magic show and more.

On Friday, Oct. 6 head to the Oxford Tim Hortons when $1 for every drink order purchased goes to the ACS Real Men Campaign.

Also on Friday, Oct. 6 is the “Pink Out” game at Oxford High School.

The American Cancer Society Men Wear Pink ambassadors commit to: Wearing pink throughout the month of October; Raising awareness for the cause through their social media networks and fundraising for the American Cancer Society with the goal of reaching a minimum $2,500.
