Nancy Jane Pinchback, age 77, passed away on October 23, 2024, in her home at River Oaks Assisted Living under hospice care. Nancy was born on April 10, 1947, to the late Lee and Lillian Prior and grew up in Mansfield, Ohio. Nancy followed in her mother’s footsteps to become a teacher, graduating from Mansfield High School in 1965 and the “family college,” Bowling Green State University, in 1969. After graduation, she and a friend packed their bags and traveled around Europe. Not ready for their adventuring to end, they headed to Lake Orion, Michigan where they both found jobs and a little place by the lake. Not long after being set up on a blind date with a fellow teacher, Nancy married Larry on June 30, 1973. Together, they have three wonderful kids, whom they affectionately referred to as Joey, Benny, and Dawny. Second only to Jesus, Nancy loved spending time with her family and playing with the grandkids. Art was a significant part of Nancy’s life; she spent her retired years taking and teaching classes. Children’s literature was an extension of her love, marked by an impressive collection of Nancy Drew originals. Nancy gave her life in service to the Lord and was deeply committed to her church families at Christ the King Church in Oxford, and River of God in Romeo. For years she participated in Women’s Aglow Ministries and led Bible studies for troubled youth at Children’s Village. Her intercessory prayer girls were her best friends and a blessing in her final days. Nancy will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children Joseph (Sandra) Pinchback, Ben (Rebekah) Pinchback, and Dawn (David) McCleese. Ten grandchildren and her sister Jean Shauver also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years Larry, and her sister Ellen Krumel. Funeral from Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick, Oxford, took place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Visitation also occurred at the funeral home on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 2-8 p.m.
