National Weather Service: ‘White Christmas sure thing this year?

A white Christmas in Ortonville and Goodrich is likely a sure thing this year.
‘It’s looking very good for a white Christmas,? said David Kook, a meteorologist intern at the National Weather Service, White Lake.
He made his prediction on Thursday, with a few inches of snow already on the ground and more expected Friday.
Kook noted that the Flint area had already received 20.6 inches of snow since October.
Normal snowfall for this area is 9.7 inches by this time of year.
The average snowfall for an entire winter in this area is 48.3 inches.
Last winter was well above-normal, with 82.8 inches of snow. Kook did not yet have a forecast on this season, but said that there is a 70 percent chance of snow for tonight.
Winter officially begins tomorrow, Dec. 21, and Kook said the NWS is currently tracking yet another system, which could potentially bring snow on Tuesday or Wednesday.
