New look for Goodrich Country Club

Goodrich – There is a newly renovated pub in town’upstairs at the Goodrich Country Club.
For $1, the public is invited to the grand opening at 7 p.m., Nov. 2, 10080 Hegel Road.
With the new sports bar atmosphere, customers can drop in to watch football or basketball, as well as other sporting events. Manager Kim Easton hopes the idea will be a big crowd pleaser.
‘We are going to install a 300-inch projection television and other televisions throughout the pub,? said Easton. ‘We have worked extremely hard to do this renovation and I think the brand new bar, mirrors, paint and drywall have given the pub a great new look.?
Hoping the pub will become a gathering spot for the community, Easton said there’s plenty of new entertainment.
‘We have applied to the state to have Keno, and there will be euchre tournaments every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.,? said Easton.
Hungry? Easton said there will be all kinds of luncheon specials and customers will get to choose from 10 different kinds of chicken wings. She said customers can dine on the wings and listen to music played by a disc jockey every Friday night at 7 p.m.
A manager at the country club over the past four years, Easton said it’s her background in food and beverage that helps her to make the right decisions.
‘This is a very challenging job,? she said. But what excites me about working here is the new ideas. I am almost always given the go-ahead to try them, it’s so much fun.?
The 120 acres the country club sits on was bought by the Frick family in 1957, when they came to Goodrich to farm. They used part of their land to develop a nine-hole golf course. In 1968, the club was expanded to 18 holes and in 1970, the club became incorporated when 12 families got together, paying $500 per family.
Today, the club is considered to be a semi-private club, which is governed by a nine-member board of directors. All of the 165 members own a share of stock in the club. www.goodrichcountryclub.com Details: (810) 636-2493.
