Taking on Notre Dame Prep on Feb. 9, the Oxford-Avondale hockey team suffered a tough 10-2 loss. The team was without its leading scorer for the night, senior forward and captain Ben Pratt.
Notre Dame got on the board quickly in the first period, and put three more in the back of the net to end the first with a 4-0 score.
After a few more points made by Notre Dame in the second quarter, freshman Brian Budde managed to get OA on the board to end the second period 7-1. He was assisted in the goal by senior Zach Rauh and sophomore Jake Billis.
OA’s second goal was scored by Rauh, who took advantage of a power play in the third quarter to hold the game at 8-2 for a while. He was assisted by Billis and sophomore Kyle Vogler. But, OA couldn’t hold Notre Dame off for long and the game ended 10-2.
The OA squad was hammered with pucks throughout the night, but goalie Aaron Angelo made 24 saves on 28 shots and goalie Brett Dinges made 33 blocks on 39 shots during the game.
OA is now 4-17 overall. The boys play next when they take on Lake Orion on Feb. 14.
