Playing for the 16U Troy Lady Sting in the 16U/19U Tier 2 Howe Division of the Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League, several Clarkston and Oxford girls won their playoff championship on March 18 at the DISC Arena in Dearborn.
The local 16U Troy Lady Sting players include Alyssa Exline (#20) and Lauren Reiss (#23), both freshmen at Clarkston Junior High School; Lindsay Reiss (#44), a junior at Clarkston High School; and Kylie Rancilio (#77), a freshman at Oxford High School.
In the weeks leading up to the playoff weekend the 16U Lady Sting battled hard and earned the number one seed in their division as they entered the playoff rounds. In the semifinals the 16U Lady Sting defeated the 19U Kensington Valley Ravens 6-0 and in the finals they defeated the 19U Lady Sabrehawks from Cincinnati, Ohio by the score of 3-0.
Each player played an important role during the playoffs, highlighted by the goal tending duo of Lauren Reiss and Tara Peladeau (Windsor, Ontario) leading the team to two shut outs during the weekend.
The 16U/19U Little Caesars league in which the 16U Troy Lady Sting played in was made up of two divisions and teams from Troy (16U/19U), Farmington Hills (16U), Kensington Valley (16U/19U/19U), Livonia (16U), Kalkaska (16U), and Cincinnati (19U).
