One more public hearing for McLaren project

McLaren Health Care is looking to add a couple pieces of property to its Sashabaw Road project.
Independence Township Planning Commission will consider the amended Planned Unit Development site plan along Sashabaw at a public hearing, Dec. 11, 7:30 p.m., at Independence Township Library.
The planning commission will consider two items, the pieces of property and their commercial site plan.
‘The first piece is the site Clarkston State Bank did or does own and were proposing to build on, but now they are going to come into the commercial shopping-center portion of the property,? said Dick Carlisle, township planner. ‘There was a second piece of property in that first phase that McLaren had not yet acquired. That’s what’s going to be brought into the project and that’s where the bank is going.?
The second item is the approval of the site plan for a commercial portion of the property.
‘I think these are procedural and minor changes but they’re changes nonetheless and we have to go and get them approved,? said Kevin Tompkins, vice president of marketing for McLaren Health Care Corporation. ‘Nothing of material nature is changing with that. We’re on course and looking good for the Phase I part and happy it’s proceeding along.?
Phase I includes a medical office building, cancer center, and retail/ professional office building.
‘We still anticipate opening Phase I in May of 2009,? said Tompkins.
