Brandon Twp.- A 20-year-old township man died as the result of a three-vehicle accident June 8 on Oakwood Road.
Josh Tolan, a 2007 graduate of Brandon High School, died June 9 at Genesys Regional Medical Center, the day after the crash.
According to police reports, at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Tolan was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound on Oakwood Road and had stopped or was coming to a stop behind a Chevrolet Aveo that was waiting to turn left onto Legault Boulevard. An 18-year-old Ortonville man was driving a 1988 Chevrolet Silverado behind Tolan and failed to stop in time, crashing into the Cavalier, which was pushed into the Aveo, driven by a 50-year-old Lapeer woman who was transported to Lapeer Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Alcohol or drug use does not appear to be a factor in the crash, nor does there appear to be any vehicle failure, said Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstructionist Harry Joseph.
The case remains under investigation and will be turned over to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review once all evidence is gathered and the investigation is complete, which may take quite some time.
‘I do expect there to be charges,? Joseph said. ‘In a case like this, where there is no intent or reckless driving, negligent homicide is usually the charge.?
