Girls varsity finishes fifth
MILFORD — The Oxford High School varsity boys cross country team took second place out of 32 teams at the Oakland County Cross Country High School Championships on Oct. 5, while the Oxford girls finished fifth.
The boys finished just eight points behind Clarkston at the meet at Kensington Metropark. The girls finished fifth out of 29 teams behind Rochester, Rochester Adams, Novi and Royal Oak.
Oxford senior Alexander McArthur was second overall with a time of 16:08.45 minutes in the boys 5k race. Senior James Cusick finished sixth with a time of 16:24.89; senior Maxton Myrand was 10th at 16:55.41; junior Cayden Canham was 39th at 17:37.77; and senior Jack Dysarz was 45th at 17:43.03 out of 231 runners.
Senior Mallory Bigelow finished second overall in the girls race with a time of 18:51.6 minutes. Senior Taylor Brodeur was 12th at 20:10.62; freshman Sienna Chapin was 60th at 21:56.06; junior Laila Bodell was 65th at 22:03.76; and senior Jamie Patterson was 68th out of 220 runners with a time of 22:09.57.
The teams next race is the OAA Red Jamboree 3 on Thursday at Clintonwood Park in Clarkston. The boys varsity race begins at 3:30 p.m. followed by the girls varsity race at 3:56 p.m.
The MHSAA Lower Peninsula Region 8-1 meet is on Oct. 25 at Clintonwood Park. The boys race begins at 3:40 p.m., with the girls slated for 4:15 p.m. start time. – J.N.
