The Oakland County Sheriff’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting deputies from the Brandon Township substation with the investigation of a single motor vehicle fatal crash that occurred at 4:25 p.m. Sept. 29 on Seymour Lake Rd. at the intersection of Perry Lake Rd.
A 65-year-old Oxford man was operating a 1992 Ford Mustang east on Seymour Lake Rd. when, according to witnesses, he attempted to pass at least two vehicles on the wet roadway and lost control. The vehicle went off the roadway to the left, jumping the curb and going down into a marshy area before overturning and coming to rest on the left side. The driver was ejected, and the vehicle partially landed on top of him.
The Brandon Township Fire Department arrived on scene and gave medical treatment to the driver, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. The vehicle airbags did not deploy.
It is believed that alcohol may be a factor in this crash which remains under investigation.
