Parks, museums part of free summer fun library card

If you have a library card, then you have a free pass to fun outside of the library.
Two programs sponsored in part by the Library of Michigan allow residents with library cards access to many state parks and museums for free.
Through Sept. 25, take advantage of ‘Park & Read? by obtaining a certificate from the Brandon Township Library which can be redeemed for one free entrance into any park in the Michigan State Parks and Recreation Areas system. Several parks offer use of a hammock to participants. The pass is valid for seven days from the time it is checked out, and gives vehicle admission into a park for one day.
‘It’s a good opportunity for families who cannot afford to visit the parks for financial reasons, to take a one-day mini vacation to our state parks and recreation areas,? said Barb Fahlquist of the Brandon Township Library.
Like the ‘Park & Read? program, the ‘Museum Adventure Pass? also requires a library card, and residents can check out a pass for seven days, using it one time during that week at museums including the Cranbrook Institute of Science, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History, the Howell Nature Center, the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm and many more.
