A new manager is being sought by the Polly Ann Trail Management Council (PATMC) because the current one is hitting the road – literally.
Trail Manager Pat Ball’s last day on the job will be Sept. 21. He and his wife have decided to fulfill their wanderlust.
“I’m not leaving the job per se, I’m leaving the community,” he said. “We are selling everything we own here in Oxford . . . We have bought a RV and we are hitting the dusty trail and discovering America. (It has) nothing to do with the job or anything like that. It’s just time for us to explore new avenues.”
Ball has served as trail manager since October 2013. “I’ve enjoyed the job,” he said.
The deadline to submit resumes for the part-time manager position to the PATMC is Friday, Sept. 2. Details about the job, which pays $18 to $20 per hour, are contained in our public notice section.
Ball said the job “averages out to 60 hours” per month. The workload is “lighter” in the winter and “a little heavier” during the summer months, he explained.
“We’ve done some good things and I’d like to see the next person carry it to even higher levels,” Ball said. “(The trail is) a great natural resource.”
