Legionnaires from American Legion Post 108 will be at intersections around Oxford on April 28, 29 and 30 to raise money and hand out poppies.
Money raised through poppy donations will go to the various programs put on by American Legion Post 108 including annual eye clinics, the post’s annual police and fire appreciation dinner, scholarships and youth programs like Boys State and Girls State.
Post 108 asks drivers to be cautious around town this weekend since, in the words of Senior Vice Commander Fred Censullo, the volunteers “are not quite as fast as we used to be and are not as able to dodge ‘a Dodge.’”
Poppies have been used as symbols to support veterans since World War I.
