To the qualified electors of the Charter Township of Oxford, County of Oakland, State of Michigan.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF OXFORD CLERK’S OFFICE, 300 DUNLAP ROAD, OXFORD, MI 48371 WILL BE OPEN:
TUESDAY, October 10, 2017
FROM 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
LAST DAY TO REGISTER
FOR THE PURPOSE OF RECEIVING APPLICATIONS FOR THE REGISTRATION OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS IN OXFORD TOWNSHIP NOT ALREADY REGISTERED.
IF YOU ARE NOT CURRENTLY REGISTERED TO VOTE OR NEED TO REGISTER AT A NEW ADDRESS, YOU MAY DO SO AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS AND TIMES:
In Person:
• Oxford Township Offices, 300 Dunlap Rd., Oxford, MI 48371.
• County Elections Division, 1200 N. Telegraph Rd., Pontiac, MI 48341, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm.
• Secretary of State Branch Offices.
• At specified agencies for clients receiving services through Family Independence Agency, the Department of Community Health, Michigan Jobs Commission and some offices of the Commission for the Blind.
• At military recruitment offices for persons who are enlisting.
By Mail:
• Voter Registration Application – Mail to the election official as directed on the application by the close of registration deadline.
Note:
Persons registering by mail are required to vote in person unless they have previously voted in person in the state or are at least 60 years of age or are handicapped.
THE NOVEMBER 7, 2017 CONSOLIDATED ELECTION WILL BE CONDUCTED IN ALL VOTING PRECINCTS OF THE CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF OXFORD FOR THE PURPOSE OF:
I. BONDING PROPOSAL
Oxford Community Schools
Shall Oxford Community Schools, Oakland and Lapeer Counties, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Twenty-Eight Million Two Hundred Eighty Thousand Dollars ($28,280,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therefor, in one or more series, for the purpose of: remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing and equipping and re-equipping school buildings; purchasing school buses; and developing and improving playgrounds, parking areas and sites?
II. SINKING FUND MILLAGE PROPOSAL
Oxford Community Schools
Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in Oxford Community Schools, Oakland and Lapeer Counties, Michigan, be increased by and the board of education be authorized to levy not to exceed .75 mill ($0.75 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of 5 years, 2018 to 2022, inclusive, to create a sinking fund for the construction or repair of school buildings, for school security improvements, for the acquisition or upgrading of technology and for all other purposes authorized by law; the estimate of the revenue the school district will collect if the millage is approved and levied in 2018 is approximately $801,000?
