April 2: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies received a call from a 27-year-old man who was at a store in the 900 block of N. Lapeer Rd. and stated he had allegedly been spit on by a 57-year-old Oxford resident in a store parking lot. The older man had allegedly called the younger man an explicit name and then spit on him before driving off at high speeds in a silver Ford F-150. When Sheriff’s deputies later spoke to the 57-year-old man, he told them he felt terrible about the incident. According to the older man, he had been loading groceries when he saw the younger man smiling at him. In response to seeing him smile, he had allegedly asked the 27-year-old if he was gay. According to the older man, the 27-year-old allegedly threatened to punch him in response to his question. Alarmed by this reaction, the 57-year-old told Sheriff’s deputies he had gotten into his truck and started to drive away, and that he had spit out of his window but had not meant to spit on the younger man directly.

April 2: Oxford Village Police were called to the 19 block of Pleasant St. at 2:57 p.m. where a stray, unaggressive male dog was reported to be wandering around. The dog was reported to be a pit bull mix. Officers were unable to locate the dog.

April 1: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 3500 block of Estate Dr. by a 30-year-old homeowner at 12:37 a.m., where a vehicle had allegedly driven into a tree on the property. Sheriff’s deputies noted in the report that the woman driving the vehicle, a 35-year-old Lake Orion resident, was found inside the running vehicle, a silver 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, along the treeline. The woman allegedly smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech and red, bloodshot eyes. When asked if she had been drinking the woman allegedly said that she had been. The report noted that the woman was unable to complete a preliminary breath test correctly. When Sheriff’s deputies advised the woman that she was under arrest, she allegedly became irate. She was then transported to McLaren Oakland in Pontiac to complete a blood draw test. The woman’s car was impounded and the incident is open pending results.

March 29: A 46-year-old Oxford resident told Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies he had received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Treasury, that an unknown individual had used his social security number for the 2016 tax year. He was advised that a refund would not be allowed until his identity was verified. A report was filed.

March 28: Village Police were called to the intersection of Oxford Lakes Dr. and S. Glaspie St. at 12:45 a.m., where a subject was reported to be walking down the roadway wearing dark clothes. Police advised the subject to walk on the grass instead.

March 27: Oxford Village Police received a call at 9:40 a.m. by a person living in the 100 block of Crawford St. who reported their identity was stolen. The caller stated someone had created an account using their name, running nearly $3,000 in charges.

March 23: A 61-year-old woman living in the 1900 block of Hummer Lake Rd. called Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies at 6:27 p.m. to report an incident which had happened on March 19. The woman told Sheriff’s deputies that she, her husband, and her son had been standing outside their home near the garage when they allegedly heard a bullet pass by and hit their home. The woman said she had gone to a nearby home, where the shooting had allegedly come from, and had told people who were target shooting from the backyard of the home to stop shooting. Sheriff’s deputies noted in the report that they had observed two holes in the home– one in the molding and one behind a wooden frame. Sheriff’s deputies later contacted the homeowner, who said he had allowed people to practice shooting in his backyard because he thought it would be safe. The man was taught by Sheriff’s deputies about how far bullets can travel and was advised not to allow target shooting in his backyard.
