September 17: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home, located in the 2000 block of Seymour Lake Rd., at 9:10 p.m., where a 61-year-old resident said he had heard glass breaking outside his home. Deputies arrived on scene to find the victim’s vehicle in the driveway with the rear window broken out. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the vehicle.
September 17: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the 2000 block of N. Baldwin Rd. at 8:31 a.m., to handle an animal-at-large complaint. Upon arrival, deputies found an emu on the northern portion of the property. The owner of the emu was found by deputies to be a 62-year-old man living in the 1000 block of Thorntree Lane. The man told deputies he had tried to regain control of the animal around noon the previous day, but had been unable to. He stated he had been working with an animal control deputy and that he would have to wait until he could speak with a veteranarian to obtain a tranquilizer.
September 16: A 56-year-old woman called Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies to her home, located in the 1500 block of E. Oakwood Rd. at 9:11 a.m., where she told deputies her mailbox had been damaged. According to the woman, she had been awoken by a loud boom outside her home at around 1:25 a.m. When she went to retrieve her mail the next day, she noticed her steel mailbox, its steel post and its cement anchor had all been badly damaged. In the report, deputies noted the mailbox had been “totally devastated.”
September 15: Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a business located in the 900 block of N. Lapeer Rd. for a report of larceny. Upon arrival, a 17-year-old girl from Oxford Twp. told deputies she had stored her purse and shoes in an unsecured property storage area. The victim said she had been away from her belongings from 8:20 p.m. until 9:21 p.m. that evening and that she had returned to find that her items had been disturbed and that she found $50 to be missing from inside her purse. Deputies spoke with a manager of the business, who stated that other customers had also reported finding items missing that night. The incident is undergoing further investigation.
