Alleged assault and battery of spouse
A 40-year-old Oxford woman went to the Oakland County Jail on Feb. 9 after allegedly assaulting her husband. The man called authorities after the two went out for drinks with a friend. When they returned to the friend’s home, the report states the woman started yelling at her husband and then allegedly began hitting and scratching him. The Oakland County Sheriff’s deputy that authored the report said he observed bleeding, redness and scratches on the husband.
When he first tried to contact authorities, the man said his wife had knocked the phone from his hand. He added that this had been a growing trend with his wife and he wished to press charges. The friend whose home this all took place at, a woman, confirmed the husband’s story.
Officers later saw the wife walking down the sidewalk. According to the report, she told officers she did hit her husband. According to the report, she said her husband wished to cheat on her with the aforementioned friend and that she wanted to kill him and/or bite off his genitals. She was then taken to the Oakland County Jail on charges of assault.
Failing to pay child support leads to arrest
An Oxford Village police officer was out on patrol on Feb. 7 when he noticed a truck with the passenger headlight and the plate light being burned out. When the officer pulled the driver, a 37-year-old Holly man, over, it was found that the man had a warrant out for failing to pay child support. According to the police report, the man was taken to Oakland County Jail by Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies and his truck was towed away.
Harassing texts and calls
An Oxford woman came to the Oakland County Sheriff’s office in Oxford on Feb. 6 to report a series of harassing texts and calls from an old friend. She told officers the man, a 37-year-old Lake Orion resident, had been friends with her for about 10 years and they had dated a little. She said after she broke it off, the man reportedly began calling and texting her in excess. The report states the woman had received over 100 calls and “hundreds” of texts from the man in the span of a week. She said he had also come to her home and stayed outside honking his car horn for an extended period.
The officer who wrote the report observed threats to harm the woman and her boyfriend in the text messages. Though authorities tried to contact the man, he did not answer his phone and never called back, according to the report. The woman told officers she would be willing to pursue a personal protection order against the man.
