Dracula caught driving drunk
Patrons at an Oxford restaurant called the Oakland County Sheriff’s Oxford substation around midnight on Oct. 28 to report a possible assault. With Halloween drawing nearer, the accused was reportedly dressed as Dracula. While a deputy was driving to the establishment on Lapeer Rd., she observed a black Dodge Ram pull out and begin driving the wrong direction on the road.
Upon pulling the driver, a 50-year-old man from Strongville, Ohio, over, the officer could smell alcohol and observed the driver’s watery eyes and slurred speech. The driver also happened to be dressed as Dracula. According to the report, he submitted to alphabet, counting and balance tests to determine his sobriety. The man passed the alphabet and counting tests, but was unable to maintain his balance. A breathalyzer showed his blood alcohol level was at 0.139, according to the report, and he was arrested for operating a vehicle while under the influence.
He told officers he was in Oxford to visit his girlfriend. When officers later contacted her in regard to the aforementioned assault allegation, she said no such thing had taken place.
