Paved portions of three Oxford Twp. roads will undergo some badly-needed resurfacing beginning the week of Oct. 12-16.
A contractor hired by the Road Commission for Oakland County will be applying a fresh layer of asphalt to 1.73 miles of W. Drahner Rd. between M-24 and Newman Rd.; 0.07 mile of Oakwood Rd. just east of M-24; and 0.59 mile of Oxford Rd. just east of Ray Rd.
‘Once started, the work will take about one week,? according to an e-mail from RCOC representative Tom Noechel. ‘No road closures are planned and the work will be done under traffic control.?
Per the bids, the three projects will cost an estimated $385,549 in all.
Tri-Party Funds will be used to pay for the work, of which the township is responsible for one-third (or $128,516).
Tri-Party is a road-funding initiative through which project costs are divided evenly between the county’s general government, the road commission and local communities.
Back in April, township officials voted to allocate $150,000 to their road fund to help pay for the resurfacing projects.
