Richard “Dick” Mersino, of Goodrich and formerly of Oxford, passed away on Nov. 12, 2018. He was 88.
Richard was born July 19, 1930 to Matthew and Gladys Mersino. He was one of 11 children; his surviving siblings are Phyllis Pagel, Stanley Mersino, and Dennis Mersino.
He married his late wife Ardise Schmidt Mersino in 1952. They raised eight children; John (Ruby) Mersino, Daniel (Pauline) Margo, Annetta (Robert) Segula, Jeffery (Vicki) Mersino, (the late) Suzan Pendred, Barbara (Mike) Clementson, and Pauline K. Mersino. He is also survived by his beloved wife Kathleen who he married in 1997.
Richard served his country fighting in the Korean War as a proud member of the United States Army. He worked for General Motors for 28 years. In 1973, he established Art & Dick’s party store, and in 1982, the West Burdick Plaza was built.
Richard raced harness racing horses, and was an avid bowler, golfer and Euchre player. He spent winters in Florida.
A funeral service was held Nov. 17. Interment at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Oxford, MI. Arrangements entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, Oxford.
