Rod Laurance Melzer passed away Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019 at his home in Goodrich. He was 60.

Rod was from Lake Orion where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and playing softball.

He was also a member of Sons of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, April Hilliard Melzer, his brother, Rick Lon Melzer and his father, A.D. Melzer.

He is survived by his mother, Beulah Cash and April’s father, Terry (Peg) and mother, Corine Hilliard; brothers Reinie and Ron Melzer, his sisters Robyn Abraham-McNulty (Bernie) and Regina Tinder (Jack), nine nieces and nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors, 39 W. Burdick St., in Oxford on Monday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. Visitation will take place prior to that at the funeral home beginning at noon. If you are able, the family would appreciate you wearing hunting or fishing attire.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Goodrich Police Department or American Legion Post 108 in Oxford.
