Clarkston SCAMP is set to receive a $20,000 grant, but first they need some help.
“In order to get our $20,000 we have to raise $20,000 in new money,” said Donna Clancy, executive director of fundraising for SCAMP. “It can be old or prior donors, but it needs to be new money.?
SCAMP was named one of 50 non-profit organizations out of 550 applicants to be chosen for Art Van Furniture’s ‘Million Dollar Charity Challenge.?
In honor of Art Van’s 50th anniversary, founder and Chairman Art Van Elslander is providing $1 million for 50 grants to programs for children, as well as health and human services throughout Michigan.
‘We’re honored to be a part,? Clancy said.
SCAMP must come up with the $20,000 by July 31, 2010. The full $40,000 would allow 40 more SCAMPers to attend the program. They brought in more than $15,000 this past week for the SCAMP Home Designer Makeover.
“I’m going to meet with Art Van on Wednesday to see how much money (if any) we can use for the Art Van challenge,? she said. ‘They didn’t encourage you to use events at all. They encouraged you to get individual donors.?
